Luxury accommodation in the Aegean countryside

Summer: postscript

As promised, some photos of the finished furniture that Joe helped to make.  The desk is great for days when it’s too hot to sit inside with a PC exhaust fan going, and the cupboard is built like a tank and will outlast us all.

Also, some gratuitous kitten photos.

    Nice furniture !!!
The pics of the animals always warm my heart. Especially those of new life that you selflessly care for.

As you can see from some of the other comments, the jury is perhaps still out on our animal collecting behaviour. :) Thanks, though. Hugs back at you.

How superb, the desk, the cupboard and the kittens.

Cheers! I think we are getting addicted to this make-your-own-furniture thing. It’s nice to get a piece that fits the spot exactly.

And old enough to give away!!

    • Jason

Give it time. I think it’s customary to wean them first. :)

    Loving the cupboard

Thanks, Lorraine. You can’t see it in that shot, but it’s tiled on the top, to help weather-proof it. Although the tiles contribute to making it stupidly heavy, of course. Still, we’re unlikely to move it, at least for a few years.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Turkish cats have got together a website publicising the fact that you two are just right to be ‘put under the paw’. We know that this is so because Tilly uses the same website!
We’ll get in touch with the Turkish authorities to get some sort of recognition of your efforts.

Thanks, Cliff. Their activities certainly seem to be coordinated.

Loving the look of the furniture and kitchen you built! We’re hoping to come to Turkey on our way home maybe Feb/March next year….would be great to see your place, get some building tips and lend a hand….any straw bail construction likely to be happening around that time???

    • Jason

Hi, Steph. Thanks. And yes, I hope we’ll be doing some straw bale action around that time. Right now we’re on a short hold-up waiting for final planning permission, and then the foundations should go in as soon as possible. Then it’s timber framing, roofing, straw bales, and finally plastering. Not sure which stage we’ll be at but there should certainly be something interesting happening.

      • Steph

Sounds great. Good luck with the planning permission. We’d love to lend a hand if we can make it there, as long as we won’t be in your way! Will get in touch when we have more of an idea of plans.
